I was born in a humble home in Philadelphia, PA. After an unexpected separation from my mother, I was placed in foster care with a retired teacher whom my mother knew. I did not have any idea of my abilities at the time, but I sang for her one day when I was 7 and from then on, she devoted herself to making sure that I was given the best vocal opportunities. I did not begin formal training until I was accepted into the Philadelphia Boys' Choir at the age of 9, but rebellious scamp that I was, that was a short-lived experience. I continued to sing in the church I attended with my foster mother, and was accepted as a student at a local performing arts school when I was 10, where I continued to learn and grow in my craft. Yet I still was unable to find my freedom in singing, and continued to rebel, writing my own songs and deciding to dedicate my time and effort to learning R&B songs off the radio as opposed to improving my "sacred repertoire". At the age of 11, I returned to my mother in Altoona, PA, where I diligently sought to become the most impressive vocalist possible. My mother was unable to afford vocal lessons for me, but I continued to work on my own and with my middle-school and high-school choral instructors to improve my voice. Through my commitment to music and voice I received the first place chair in both District and Regional Chorus as a Bass 2. At the tender age of 15, and with no formal training I was able to obtain a role as an Apostle in the Altoona Community Theater's production of "Jesus Christ Superstar", which introduced me to my love of the stage and performing for a vast audience. At 16, I performed in their production of "Jekyll & Hyde" as a lead soloist. At 17, I wrote and recorded several songs with a high school friend of mine, one of which we performed together in the annual Talent Show, receiving an outstanding score from the judges and a Gold Medal for our unique performance.
I departed high school before the conclusion of my Junior year, and departed my home in Altoona to create a future for myself by traveling to Pittsburgh, PA, where I attended Job Corps and obtained my GED.
Several years passed, and I found myself going wherever the wind blew, but never finding a suitable place for me to construct a future.
At the age of 20, casting all uncertainty aside, I moved to Rochester, NY and built a home for myself. While in Rochester, I auditioned for Stages Theater and was granted the role of Zeke Baylor in "High School Musical" (this was quite an honor, as Stages was the first theater in Rochester to obtain the rights to the popular Disney musical). My voice is considered that of a lyric baritone, therefore the part of Troy Bolton, was beyond my vocal range, though I was informed by the director after the casting that I was being considered for the part. In the following two years, while working at a local restaurant as a server, I obtained roles in 3 more productions, allowing me to once again showcase my vocal ability.
Modeling was something I had not consciously considered, though I had received many compliments for my facial characteristics and bodily poise. While serving a table at the restaurant one afternoon, I was distracted by a clicking sound. Apparently, one of my customers had snapped a picture of me while I was serving another table. I turned and looked quizzically at him for a moment, but he was very kind and explained that he would like to use me as a model for his photography project. He informed me that he was looking for a young man to pose as a high school senior for his website, and I agreed to be a part of it. The gentleman was Jeff Palma of Eastman Kodak, and he was the man who truly showed me the enjoyment and possibility of the modeling world.
To this day, I continue to work with him whenever possible, and maintain an up-to-date and appealing profile, though I continue to search for new photographers that might wish to offer me a new opportunity.
Currently, I am a vocal major at a local community college, where I am working towards my associates in music. I also continue to perform with a local opera group called the Off-Monroe Players, who perform various operettas written by Gilbert & Sullivan. I have located a wonderful vocal instructor and through his guidance I have gained confidence and found even more joy in singing. This winter, my college choral instructor invited me to sing an oratorio from Mendelsson's "ELIJAH" entitled "It Is Enough", for which I received wonderful reviews. I maintain a 3.9 Grade Point Average at my college while continuing to do what I love: singing and modeling. I hope to enjoy many opportunities in the future to do just that.
